Who Cares About Cases?

It seems like we’ve been here before. Colorado mainstream media is reporting supposed increases in the so-called “positivity rate” of COVID-19 in the state. The “positivity rate” is simply the number of positive tests versus the state’s total population over a seven-day period. Of course, this metric fails to account for the number of tests administered, the severity of the “cases,” or any difference in demographics with regard to overall outcomes.

Jared Polis has wisely looked at the economic landscape and realized that more lockdowns and mandatory masking would destroy a Colorado economy that is already decimated due to his prior executive orders, but he is forcing all state workers to mask up and get vaccinated. The city of Denver is likewise forcing its employees (including DPS teachers) to get the still-experimental COVID-19 vaccine, in a move that will likely draw a lawsuit.

With all of the panic being re-spread, how is the current COVID-19 situation any different than it’s ever been? Is the current fear-mongering and push for forced vaccination supported by the data?

Looks pretty bad, huh? Looks like the virus is roaring back and presenting a resurgent threat to Coloradoans, right? State epidemiologist Rachel Herlihy, in a press conference, continued the Colorado government trend of completely ignoring the severity of cases or demographic data when discussing the slight increase in cases and hospitalizations in the state. No mention of age, general health, or history with COVID-19 (like whether or not an individual has had a prior COVID-19 infection) other than a comparison of so-called “breakthrough cases” versus government projections.

See the issue? The current increase in cases in Colorado is well within the range of what the state has experienced for well over a year. Recall the brand new definition of a “case”: A person with a shred of the virus or anything similar in their system is a “case.” Prior to 2020, you had to be sick enough to need medical treatment to be considered a case, so most COVID-19 “cases” would never have been counted until 2020 when we coincidentally started mass testing healthy people.

So-called COVID-19 “hospitalizations” are also not unexpectedly rising. Remember, a “hospitalization” is still a person admitted to hospital care for any reason who happens to have a positive COVID-19 test. They need not be admitted for COVID-19.

Finally, the relative severity of the Delta variant and the new so-called “wave” can be generally determined by the rate of deaths being attributed to COVID-19:

The death rate has not materially changed in months and is still overwhelmingly including those who are very old or very sick already. There simply is nothing to be concerned about with a virus variant that is spreading everywhere but is far less virulent. This Delta trend is actually good news and a sign that the virus has reached endemic status. We can and should return to normal life. Yet government officials are desperate to retain power and special interest groups like teachers unions find the pandemic far too politically useful to return to normal.

Brace yourself for more announcements of forced vaccinations.

Brace yourself for increased social pressure, including those who choose to remain unvaccinated being forced to submit to intrusive testing.

Brace yourself for the continuation of junk science – like how you being vaccinated is to protect public health, or that masks do anything to thwart an airborne respiratory virus (even the Biden administration is now admitting masks don’t work).

COVID-19 remains a blip of a virus – nowhere near as deadly as the Spanish Flu (which disproportionally affected young people) or the Hong Kong Flu (which we did nothing to try to mitigate). The government’s reaction to it has proved far more deadly. In terms of life years, COVID-19 is less deadly than accidents. The highly politicized mitigation efforts have destroyed the mental health of American children, decimated the world economy, and have only delayed the inevitable spread at a cost of trillions of dollars and the loss of untold personal liberty. Look around you as people mask back up for no reason at all to see the sociological cost – the brainwashing of formerly free people.
