Clowns in Colorado Government Wag the Dog

Colorado’s emergency relief ideas are about as useful to Colorado small businesses as Derek Chauvin offering a stick of gum to George Floyd. Governor Jared Polis and his useful idiots in state government have their boots on the necks of Colorado business as they continue to wag the dog by claiming they have no choice but to bow before the COVID dial.

A special session of the Colorado General Assembly gathers today to determine what businesses (or political pet causes) are worthy of being given back their own money as Colorado again attempts the impossible feat of slowing down a respiratory virus using our freedoms as bait. Politicians both Democrat and Republican will then undoubtedly pat themselves on the back for doing something in the face of a supposedly unstoppable plague that has thus far been involved in the deaths of 0.05% of Colradoans (for reference, over 20X this many Coloradoans die every year). This is political Stockholm syndrome, where the government hopes beaten down, compliant Coloradoans defend their captors against those trying to free them.

While Colorado small businesses – especially restaurants – need relief in the form of being given their Constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms back, the Colorado state government instead is figuring out how to offer them table scraps of their own money while their life’s work burns to the ground. Included in the relief proposals is 20 million dollars to supposedly help increase broadband internet access, ostensibly to continue to lull Colorado into accepting never-ending online “school” as our children fall farther and farther behind countries like China, which has had in-person schools open for months.

With circular logic reminiscent of offering beatings that continue until morale improves, the arbitrary, anti-scientific, crazy COVID dial continues to punish Coloradoans for something they have no control over, and the everlasting executive orders (EEO) provide the whip to beat non-compliant businesses back into submission. The pols use the invented out of whole cloth dial as a shield that they hide behind as gospel and pretend we don’t know that it could be stopped with the stroke of a pen.

It must be repeated – testing thousands of healthy Coloradoans every day has no benefit whatsoever aside from scaring everyone into blaming a 99.98% survival rate virus for the economic calamity instead of the tyranny of experts and government officials who are really to blame for the mess. Colorado, like the country as a whole, has not experienced any excess death in 2020 due to COVID-19. If Colorado stopped testing healthy people, the “pandemic” would disappear overnight.
