Study: Loneliness Makes COVID-19 Worse

The year 2020 has brought about the greatest systematic abuse of older Americans in history. Under the guise of protecting them against a largely unknown viral threat, we have locked up our seniors alone in their rooms, doomed to die of loneliness, confusion, and despair. In a tragic irony, research indicates that social isolation and loneliness likely increase the severity and lethality of the novel coronavirus for all Americans, with the most severe consequences reserved for the elderly.

Back in 2018, AARP observed that Loneliness is Lethal, noting:

When loneliness becomes a lifestyle, it can have a profound effect on health and can lead to increased levels of stress hormones as well as a heightened risk for heart attack and stroke, dementia, and premature mortality.

In this country (and many others), we have purposefully locked up and isolated older citizens away from their loved ones and their social circles to supposedly prevent death, yet are now beginning to observe the unintended consequences of overbearing, un-scientific government policies that focused on reducing coronavirus-attributed death and ignored every other cause of death increasing as a result.

A UCLA study described by AARP indicated that the stress from loneliness and social isolation makes viral infections more lethal:

In addition, in a kind of double whammy to people who are socially isolated, the study found that they have reduced activity of the antiviral genes that protect us from various infectious diseases. Lonely people may not catch colds and other infections more easily, but when they do they have a more severe case because antiviral immunity seems to be weaker.

In essence, we are likely trading risk of coronavirus deaths with family and friends for risk of coronavirus deaths without family and friends. In their efforts to control a microscopic virus with their superior knowledge and duty to control people to make it happen, our government officials are abusing the elderly and dooming them to live their last years in horrible loneliness. And the elderly and infirm do not have the ability to fight back. It is horrifying.
