The Elites Reap What They Have Sown

The unprecedented, mass violation of civil rights and disregard for the rule of law brings about exactly what we are seeing today.

First of all, we are not arguing that any illegality, violence, or rioting is justified. It is not.

Government institutions that throw out the rule of law on the basis of “safety” or any other justification bring about revolution. In a country known for holding the Constitution and the principle of law above all other civil considerations, we have seen an unprecedented devolution of our founding principles. First, it was the mass suspension of civil liberties in response to the Chinese coronavirus. Then it was the widescale and corrupt shutdown of free speech by elitist big tech companies and the trading of vigorous, open debate for groupthink and censorship of all but the approved government narrative. Finally, it was the widescale ignoring and rewriting of election laws that left the door wide open for election fraud on a scale never thought possible.

From the Declaration of Independence (emphasis mine):

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.–Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. The consent of the governed has been trampled on in an unprecedented manner in 2020. One citizen, one vote did not happen. Instead, unelected, unchecked and unaccountable government and partisan election workers rewrote the vote to mute the people and install their preferred candidate into the highest office in the land.

The people – not would-be dictators in government, media, or big tech – have the right to alter or abolish the government. When the system is irrevocably broken, this (sadly) can only happen through violent means.

The usurpation of free and fair elections is not a light or transient cause – it is a fundamental, bedrock component of government by the people. It is perhaps the most valid reason to overthrow the government.

The almost-universal violations of fundamental civil rights in 2020 represent a long train of abuses and usurpations. Government officials shut down our businesses and our churches. They told us who we could invite into our homes. They supported the censoring of anyone who held a disapproved view of what was happening. They told us we could not conduct commerce without wearing their approved garments on our faces. They lied over and over to our forcibly-masked faces. They hurt the citizens who could least afford to be hurt, while the rich and connected among us got extraordinarily richer.

Without a trusted mechanism for free and fair elections, elected officials are despots rather than representatives. Free people have a right and a duty to remove such a system.

The American revolutionaries declared their independence because they had no say in their own governance. When the system we trust to make our voices heard in our government is subject to rank manipulation and fraud, we are facing the exact same fundamental reason the American revolution occurred. Instead of a king in a faraway land, we have an elitist class with values fundamentally different than ours who have removed the final barrier (the ballot box) to their Marxist, freedom-hating agenda. This very situation is why the right to keep and bear arms exists.

To be clear, we are not calling for armed revolution. But our institutional elites are now reaping what they have sown. Prayers for the safety of everyone in D.C. and for justice to prevail.
