Man in the High Castle?

The Amazon series Man in the High Castle is based on the premise that the Axis powers won World War II, and the Japanese and Germans split control over conquered Allied nations like the United States and Great Britain.

It is a creepy premise – one with socialist authoritarianism ruling over once-free people. Fortunately, the Allies won and freedom continues in the UK, right? But you wouldn’t know it by looking at what is happening there today.

Britain’s National Health Service (NHS), in keeping with the rationing that is typical of socialist single-payer systems, issues “Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (DNACPR) to people they believe are supposedly too frail to benefit from CPR – in other words, if the person is at risk of death and CPR might save them, let them die.

If this wasn’t horrifying enough, the “let them die” categorization has apparently been given to those with learning disabilities as it relates to becoming sick with COVID-19. That is, if a person contracts COVID, they will not be resuscitated if necessary simply because they have a learning disability.

The fact that such a category can exist in a so-called free country is horrifying, but to apply it to a group of people who we are supposed to specially care for and protect is downright evil. This is the kind of thinking that underpins abortion – as in aborting children because they have down syndrome. Rationing of health care by government bureaucrats is what has recently been referred to as “death panels” – and it is definitely a death panel to decide not to provide medical care for someone due to a developmental disability.

In similar news, the British supermarket Morrisons is apparently requiring people who are medically unable to wear a mask to instead wear a yellow sticker (not kidding) to indicate their status as a non-masker:
