LOL: Jeffco Says You Can Now Take Off Your Mask Outdoors

First, let’s get this out of the way: Nobody with any brains thinks wearing a facemask outdoors is effective at slowing the spread of COVID-19.

Yet if Jefferson County Public Health’s logic is to be believed, the vast outdoor air is teeming with coronavirus and only the vaccine being given to enough people will make that air safe again. Jeffco Public Health Executive Director Dr. Dawn Comstock said in a release, “While we’re at a place where we can remove the outdoor mask requirements, we are asking our residents and visitors to continue wearing their masks indoors a bit longer so we can stay on the right path. After vaccination, masking and social distancing remain the most effective weapons we have against COVID-19 transmission.”

Data has indicated no measurable difference in places that required masking and distancing versus places that didn’t, but public health bureaucrats continue to push the narrative that masking and arbitrary social distancing have an effect, and apparently feel no need to explain why they continue to directly contradict all available data.

Laughably, Jeffco Public Health is still recommending that those with “underlying health conditions” continue to wear masks outside, completely missing the irony that mask-wearing can actually exacerbate underlying conditions and put vulnerable people at greater risk for pneumonia, asthma, and bacterial infections.

Comstock also recommended that Jeffco residents keep a mask in their pocket just in case someone gets near, apparently forgetting that touching your face and your mask (not to mention contaminating it by taking it in and out of your pocket) renders the device riskier than no mask at all.
