White Savior Jessie Danielson Takes a Hatchet to Native American Tradition in Colorado Schools

State Senator and self-appointed protector of Native American honor Jessie Danielson is sponsoring a bill to take a hatchet to Colorado schools that refuse to bow to woke pressure to change their Native American mascots.

According to Danielson:

It’s a real harmful practice. It hurts Native American and non-Native American kids. It perpetuates stereotypes and it bad for our community in general, and it’s long overdue to do away with this practice.

It is a good thing white saviors like Danielson know how offensive it is for Native Americans to be represented as brave, strong, and unified in purpose, and that she is willing to use oppressive and punitive financial punishment for schools that don’t agree with her. The bill slaps a $25,000 a month fine on schools that do not comply.

Public polling indicates that the vast majority of American Indians take no offense to Native American mascots, and instead appreciate the institutional recognition of their heritage. For example, the Washington Post found that 9 out of 10 Native Americans are not offended by the Washington Redskins’ name. Of course, the team gave in to the social justice mob anyway.

In testimony, Sylvester Roubideaux of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe said that the “Indians” mascot at a high school in Yuma, Colorado, where his family lives, has allowed for the celebration of Native American culture in his community. He remarked that taking away the mascots would mean less Native American representation and that they would become a “vanishing people.”

Why the naming of school mascots needs to be a top-down, statewide issue instead of a local decision is something only social justice warriors like Jessie Danielson can answer.
