Facebook’s Pathetic Censorship Will Only Make Us Stronger

Facebook is no friend of free speech. The company is full of hypocrites and partisans who lie to our faces every time they express any commitment to free expression.

Facebook has been more than willing to employ Chinese Communists as censors, and now they have – without explanation – deleted a 1.7 million-member Facebook group called Joe Biden is NOT MY PRESIDENT while allowing similar groups such as “Not My President” (an anti-Trump group) are allowed to remain:

The United States Constitution allows Americans to express just about anything, including things (maybe especially things) that are hotly contested or even flat-out wrong. Americans are allowed to claim that the president is not the president. Anti-Trump leftists have been saying this for the last four years. Our system allows this because we are a country of laws, and our leaders are actually tasked with exercising the operation of government rather than ruling us. We don’t swear an oath to a government official – it doesn’t matter if we accept who the president is as long as the law remains intact.

Facebook and other big tech hall monitors of the public square must be held to account for their role in the damage done to free speech. If they want to censor they can, but they must be stripped of the legal protection that keeps them immune from responsibility for what is posted on their platforms.

This kind of censorship only stiffens our resolve and convinces more and more people that Joe Biden will never be the duly-elected president. Those who have the truth don’t need to censor lies. It’s the truth that has to be censored.
