Opportunist Dems Call For Further Gun Control in Wake of Boulder Shooting

Colorado United States Congressman Joel Neguse wrote a letter to Joe Biden requesting an executive order banning so-called “assault weapons,” including semi-automatic rifles and “high capacity” magazines from being imported into the United States.

The letter is ironic considering Neguse is calling for government action that should originate with his branch of government but instead encourages the executive branch to ignore Neguse and his colleagues entirely. In truth, the purpose of the letter is to feed on the emotions of the moment and ignore an actual debate on the action Neguse is seeking.

Using the trap term “assault weapon” apart from a definition, the Democrats who co-signed the letter apparently have no interest in the precision of their terminology, and instead are satisfied to lump all firearms together the same way they love to lump in criminals with law-abiding American citizens.

From the letter:

Studies demonstrate that both assault weapons and high-capacity magazines contribute greatly to the lethality of gun violence. Banning the import of these weapons will lessen the devastating impact of gun violence in communities across our nation.

Yet the linked assault weapons “study” is specifically referencing the import of shotguns, not semi-automatic pistols or rifles.

It is unclear whether or not Neguse or his merry band of firearm ignoramuses actually believes the letter will make a difference, or whether they are just attempting to play to their similarly ignorant leftist base. We’re betting the latter.
