Told You So: The Tyranny of “Experts” Fesses Up

It is as close to an admission as we are likely going to get: Colorado’s changes to the crazy COVID dial to ease up restrictions are either an admission that they unnecessarily crushed businesses with the first dial, or that they now don’t care about the health of Coloradoans. There is no third option.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) continues to play us for fools, claiming that our allegiance to their mandates and increases in vaccinations apparently made the physical reality of the coronavirus change and rendered the previous framework too restrictive. At the same time, we are being told that masks and distancing will continue to be required – apparently because the physical reality of the virus has not actually changed and may somehow be getting worse.

Yet we can’t forget that the easing of restrictions due to less spread of the coronavirus was built into the dial modeling. Similar to fines and points for speeding being more severe the more a driver exceeds the speed limit, a county who is better controlling their viral spread (as if such a thing is possible) is automatically subject to lower restrictions. Now the state has changed the standard such that businesses still clinging to life in February 2021 are under a different legal standard than those in June of 2020.

We have been told that the coronavirus restriction framework has the authority of law, yet this latest move demonstrates that the dial is not and has never been law. Laws require a legislative process, not simply mandates created by unelected health bureaucrats. Businesses that lost it all due to the unscientific restrictions of crazy COVID dial 1.0 have every right to ask why they did not receive equal treatment – equal protection – as businesses now are given a lighter sentence and may last a little longer before going under.

Unfortunately, the politically-compromised Colorado court system will offer no legal remedy for those Coloradoans whose lives have been irreparably damaged by the hubris and anti-scientific authoritarianism of Colorado government elites.
