Comstock is Out at JCPH

Dawn Comstock is the local epitome of a corrupt, power-hungry, incompetent bureaucrat. And she’s too stupid to not wear a mask while on a Zoom call. Jefferson County is far better off without her.

Jefferson County Public Health Executive Director and local tinpot dictator Dawn Comstock has resigned, according to reporting by the Denver Post and 9 News.

Comstock held the position for less than a year, following Mark Johnson who was the executive director for 30 years.

Jeffco Health Board president Cheri Jahn stated:

Dr. Comstock has been a committed public servant, and this board is grateful for her public health expertise and guidance throughout the past year. She offered her resignation to the JCPH board today, and we have accepted it. We will begin the process of transitioning her position once her resignation is complete. We are grateful for Dr. Comstock’s service and look forward to keeping the public updated as we put together a transition team and search for the next director of JCPH.

There is no official statement on the reason for Comstock’s resignation, but she has faced pressure from all sides of the COVID-19 debate, and CORA (Colorado Open Records Act) requests revealed contentious, argumentative, and problematic communications between Comstock and Jeffco officials that contributed to her negative public image.

Some issues that may have led to her (no doubt forced) resignation:

• Accusing peacefully protesting parents and kids of violence and vandalism (video and pictures of the protest prove otherwise).
• Accusing parents of being willing to send their sick kids to school (what this has to do with the non-disease that is COVID-19 for kids nobody knows).
• Perhaps most scandalously, Comstock served on the Jeffco Board of Health starting in September 2017, and upon Johnson announcing his retirement was actively involved in the nationwide search process for the next JCPH executive director – including lowering qualification requirements for the position. Dozens of candidates were interviewed and rejected, and ultimately Comstock herself wound up as a final candidate for the job. Yes, Comstock was involved in the creation of the search process for the job that she ultimately was hired for – a major conflict of interest for both Comstock and the Jeffco health board.
• Comstock threatened to remove all Jeffco Public Schools extracurricular activities if superintendent Tracy Dorland didn’t enforce Comstock’s mask mandate.
• JCPH issued the a masking in schools PHO the day before school started in Fall 2021, leaving anti-mask parents without the time needed to make alternative schooling decisions.
• Comstock forced kids to wear masks outside playing sports.
• She took Christian schools to court for not forcing masks, wasting hundreds of thousands dollars and claiming in court that kids under age 12 were at the highest risk from COVID-19.
• Jeffco Sheriff publicly announced that they would not enforce Comstock’s mask mandate.
• Comstock accused the unvaccinated of “literally fighting on the side of the virus.”
• Comstock acted as records custodian for JCPH and tried to require CORA requesters to provide personal information as a condition of requesting information, which is not a requirement.
• Comstock claimed nurses were so traumatized by a peaceful protest that three resigned. One resigning nurse was later revealed to have already accepted another job prior to resignation.

Comstock’s scandalous tenure at JCPH reached its pinnacle in December when she slapped Jeffco business owners on the face by telling residents to shop in other counties that have “higher vaccination rates” and “higher mask compliance.”

Good riddance, Dawn. May you never have authority over anyone ever again.
