Crazy COVID Dial Two: Electric Boogaloo

Apparently, the “science” doesn’t need to change for the Colorado government to change the crazy COVID dial. CDPHE is now preparing to release Crazy COVID Dial Two: Electric Boogaloo.

The entire premise of the dial was to respond to case spread in Colorado counties – if a county was within a certain coronavirus cases metric, the dial would instruct them on the proper level of mitigation to help reduce the spread of new cases. Basically, a more severe COVID spread resulted in more severe restrictions, and a less severe spread resulted in more freedom.

Jill Hunsaker Ryan, CDPHE Executive Director, said, “Coloradans have made significant sacrifices to reduce disease transmission, so it is time to update the dial to reflect this reality, plus the increasing number of people who are immunized.”

Wait – are we missing something?

The dial itself is supposed to “reflect this reality.” It already reduces restrictions on counties that have reduced disease transmission, and immunization should help with this, right? Restrictions should automatically ease due to our “significant sacrifices” and supposed success reducing transmission. The fact that a “2.0” dial is needed is evidence that dial 1.0 and dial 1.5 (the one with the added purple) were made-up, unscientific nonsense to begin with.

Remember – according to our state officials the “science” doesn’t change. Is the Colorado government prepared to admit they now don’t care about our health anymore (since caring about it was the reason for the dial to begin with)? Or perhaps that they were negligent and economically-destructive with the first version of the dial and were harming Coloradoans unnecessarily? It’s one or the other, or most likely BOTH.

Perhaps the change is due to the fact that our Governor’s illegal executive orders have driven the Colorado economy into the ground, and that Colorado’s unemployment rate is now the third-worst in the nation and second to last in a ranking that combines overall unemployment with seasonally-adjusted unemployment claims.

This is no different than a teacher who gives a test, realizes that all the students are getting D’s and F’s, and simply move the standard for a C down to 40%.

Or if America solved its obesity problem by simply moving what Body Mass Index is considered obese.

The dial is a lie based on politically-driven pseudoscience – a tool to help the political class that caused all of this economic destruction avoid responsibility for what they’ve done to our state.

We must make them pay at the ballot box.
