IT’S OFFICIAL: COVID is a #Testdemic

2 min read

The second wave being experienced in the United States is entirely a result of the fact that testing has gone through the roof. In fact, we have reported over 178 million coronavirus tests this year, 13.7 million of which have come back positive. It is now a pandemic of discovery, not spread.

To put this into perspective, during the 2017-2018 flu season (which by all accounts was worse than most), we reported 666,493 tests for influenza. 124,316 of these tests were positive.

Simple math shows that the positive test percentage for coronavirus is 7.74%, while the ’17-’18 flu test positivity was 18.7%, and (testing for any influenza virus) had increased to between 26-27% by February of 2018. Even more telling, deaths in the ’17-’18 flu season were between 5.8-10.1% of those tested, while the novel coronavirus is holding right around 0.2%.

So how is it possible that coronavirus cases are spiking out of control – so much so that our dear leaders are telling us to cancel Thanksgiving? Simply put, we are currently testing for coronavirus at a rate of 267 TIMES the rate we were testing for the flu.

Colorado coronavirus testing is through the roof.

But hospitalizations are going up and we’re running out of beds! The same math is affecting these numbers as well – many if not most hospitals give coronavirus tests to everyone admitted. So if you go in for your scheduled hernia repair and (absent any symptoms) test positive for the novel coronavirus, you WILL be counted as a COVID-19 hospitalization and will be subject to extra protocols – including being transferred to a special COVID-19 section of the hospital with all the other unlucky positive tests. This has the effect of driving up “COVID-19 hospitalizations” and filling up the special coronavirus sections of the hospital – leading to reports of hospitals “running out of beds.”

Making matters worse, hospital staff (who are just as likely to contract the coronavirus) are routinely tested, and any positive test gets them sent home for two weeks regardless of whether they are experiencing any symptoms or not. These hospitals are perpetually short-staffed.

And to add the icing on the cake, the perpetual scare-mongering by politicians and the media drives people experiencing any coronavirus symptoms (even if the symptoms are not serious) straight to the hospital, where they are promptly tested and admitted upon positivity – taking up a bed that would normally remain empty waiting for a truly seriously ill patient.

The overwhelming majority of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations (just like influenza) are not in any mortal danger. The “danger” being used as the pretext for removing out freedoms is a bad math and irrational fear-induced lie.
